Kumai

Kumai is a small village perched on a hilltop at 3000 feet overlooking the vast Jaldhaka River Valley and endless stretches of lush Dooars and Bhutan Hills. Kumai is dotted with viewpoints from where you can get some of the best views of the Western Dooars and the eight rivers crisscrossing the plains.Nature walk, bird watching, low altitude trekking, angling in Jaldhaka River, jeep safari in Gorumara Forest and riverside picnic in Rocky Island are few things you can try while staying at Kumai.

Peacoke Points

A day tour starting early from Kumai home stay would take you to Gurdaray View Point, Bhutan View Point, Kumai Peak and the Peacock Point (natural habitat of peacocks). On a clear day, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the entire Dooars region, Bhutan, plains of Bengal, 08 rivers, tea gardens and mesmerizing sunrise and sunsets from these viewpoints.

Rocky Island

Rocky Island is a new tourist destination in Dooars. Situated on the banks of the River Murti it is about 2 km from Samsing and is a popular camping site. The view of river and surrounding forests are excellent from Rocky Island but tourist amenities are basic. Accommodation is arranged in small Tents for overnight visitors. The campsite provides an excellent opportunity to explore the interior parts of Neora Valley National sanctuary.

Suntalekhola Hanging Bridge

Suntalekhola also known as Suntaley Khola in Nepali is one among the famous offbeat destinations of North Bengal. Suntalekhola derives its name from two words ‘Suntaley’ meaning Orange and ‘Khola’ meaning Stream. The most attractive spot of Suntalekhola is a Hanging Bridge above the Murti river leading one to the lodge or cottages of the Forest Department of West Bengal.

Chapramari Wildlife

Chapramari Wildlife Sanctuary is located 12 km away from The Riverwood Forest Retreat-Dooars, Jalpaiguri, West Bengal. It is another famous tourist attraction of the Chapramari wildlife sanctuary in the Gorumara National Park. The total coverage of Chapramari Wildlife Sanctuary is 960 hectares. The Chapramari Wildlife Sanctuary was announced as a wildlife sanctuary in 1998 for its widely known population of large Elephants.

Gorumara National Park

Situated on the banks of rivers Murti and Raidak in the Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal, the Gorumara National Park is a site that you cannot miss to afford on your next trip. Spread over an area of 80 sq.km. it sits prettily at the foothills of Great Himalayan mountains and has a large variety of flora and fauna.
